Forklift Fuel Tanks - Most fuel tanks are fabricated; however some fuel tanks are fabricated by skilled craftsmen. Restored tanks or custom tanks can be seen on motorcycles, aircraft, automotive and tractors.

When constructing fuel tanks, there are a series of requirements that should be adopted. Primarily, the tanks craftsman will create a mockup in order to find out the dimensions of the tank. This is usually performed from foam board. Next, design issues are handled, consisting of where the seams, drain, outlet, baffles and fluid level indicator would go. The craftsman should know the alloy, temper and thickness of the metallic sheet he will use in order to construct the tank. When the metal sheet is cut into the shapes needed, numerous pieces are bent to be able to make the basic shell and or the ends and baffles for the fuel tank.

In aircraft and racecars, the baffles contain "lightening" holes, which are flanged holes which provide strength to the baffles, while also reducing the tank's weight.
